OmniBook Companion Disk
README.TXT file

--------------------------------------

The information in this README.TXT file covers the OmniBook companion
disk. This disk is a DOS 6.2 formatted system disk. You may boot
from this disk by placing it in drive A. Please refer to the users
guide for more information.

Table of Contents
1. Installing LapLink Remote Access on your Desktop
2. Running System Diagnostics on your OmniBook

--------------------------------------

LAPLINK REMOTE ACCESS

LapLink Remote Access provides connectivity to the drives and printers
on another computer.

If you have problems with LapLink Remote Access, see one of the
following sources:

* The "Solving Problems" chapter in the OmniBook Operating Guide.
* The "Troubleshooting" topic in the online Help for LapLink Remote Access.

To install LapLink Remote Access:

1. Run Windows 3.1

2. From the Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu, type:

       a:\setup

Or, from the File Manager, choose drive A and double click on the
   file Setup.exe.

3. Specify the directory you would like Setup to install LapLink Remote
   Access. The default is C:\OBCOMPAN.

4. Select the communication port to be enabled for LapLink Remote Access.

5. Select the Network you use (no Network is the default).

Setup will modify your path in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and save a backup
copy of AUTOEXEC.BAT for you.

SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS

This disk contains the System Diagnostics which may be used to help
troubleshoot possible problems with the system. To use the diagnostics,
boot with the disk in drive A. Type the following:

       cd diag

This will change the directory to the DIAG directory which contains
all the diagnostic program files. Then type:

       diag

The instructions for running the diagnostics appear at the bottom of the
screen while running the program. Follow the directions carefully.
Please note warning messages which might occur for certain tests.

Note: The diagnostics also come preloaded on the hard disk. To run
the diagnostics from the hard disk, you must boot without emm386.exe
loaded.

If you have a non-US keyboard, copy the files in the UK directory of
the companion disk into the \diag directory (after you disable write
protect) as follows:

	copy a:\diag\uk\*.* a:\diag
