HP OMNIBOOK 300 AND 425 - REMOVING ATM FROM WINDOWS

  ISSUE:HP OmniBook 300 and 425 - removing Adobe Type Manager

              (ATM) from Windows.

  SOLUTION:Some software applications give the option of

              installing Adobe ATM. The ROM-based Windows of the HP

              OmniBook 300 and 425 will not run with ATM installed.

              ATM must be removed before Windows will run.

  STEPS TO REMOVE ATM

              1. At the DOS prompt, change to the WINDOWS directory

                 and rename SYSTEM.INI to SYSTEM.ATM.

              2. Copy D:\OBSETUP\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI to

                 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI.

              3. Start Windows.

              4. Edit C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.ATM with Notepad. Find the

                 following lines in the BOOT section and make the

                 indicated changes.

              [BOOT]

               system.drv=atmsys.drv   change to    system.drv=syste

                                                    m.drv

               atm.system.drv=system   delete

               .drv                    this line

              5. Save this file as C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI and exit

                 Windows.

              6. Restart Windows.

              In most cases, this will allow the software that was

              installed to run properly. However, if the software

              requires ATM, it will not run on the HP OmniBook 300 or

              425.
